Is Hellraiser: Revival Good? What 1,229 Demo Reviews Say
Reception checked:
What demo players praise
- ✅ Atmosphere and sound: the most repeated praise is that it finally feels like the first two films
- ✅ It does not tone anything down; Saber passed ESRB (Mature 17+) without cuts and promises the same uncut game on every platform
- ✅ Chatterer's chase uses the quick-turn button in a way several players called the best part of the demo
- ✅ Resident Evil style inventory and puzzles, with Condemned and Outlast the comparisons players reach for
- ✅ Runs well: many reviews mention smooth performance on modest PCs, a Steam Machine and Steam Deck
- ✅ $39.99 for the base game, which reviewers called fair for a AA horror game
What demo players complain about
- ❌ Melee feels clunky to a large share of reviewers, and switching melee weapons from the inventory is awkward
- ❌ Enemy AI walks set paths and can be cheesed by hiding under a table
- ❌ No FOV slider in the demo; ultrawide players report motion sickness
- ❌ Raised black levels look grey on OLED screens, per one widely upvoted review
- ❌ German Steam has pulled the game and Japan reportedly has no rating
- ❌ It is genuinely explicit (sex, nudity, torture), which some players did not expect from the trailers
